Campanet Weather

Weather in Campanet - Majorca sunshine
Campanet lies in north-west Majorca in the foothills of the Sierra de Tramuntana, the island’s biggest mountain range. Majorca enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate, with little rain in summer, relatively mild winters and around 300 days sunshine each year. Temperatures in Campanet tend to be a little lower than on the coast and the gentle breezes blowing through the surrounding forests and orange groves help keep the air feeling fresh, even in mid-summer. With the mountains just to the north and the resorts of Alcudia and Pollensa also within easy reach, visitors can combine activities and sightseeing with sunny days on the beach or just relax in this beautiful countryside.
Campanet weather – Tranquil countryside warmed by the Mediterranean sun
Bright and sunny is usually the forecast for summer in Campanet, with temperatures approaching 30°C and around 12 hours of sunshine each day. July and August tend to be the busiest months for tourism in Majorca, but with so much to do around Campanet, and with bargains to be had out of season, it may be worth considering another time. Spring is particularly beautiful, with the orange and almond blossom and flowers in bloom. Autumn is still warm with an average maximum of 26°C in September and 21°C in October.
Weather in Campanet – Just right for activities or sightseeing all year
Late autumn is the wettest time if you are going on a holiday in Campanet and October usually has around 8 days with at least some rain. This does, of course, mean that there are normally 23 days with no rain, plenty of sunshine and temperatures that are extremely pleasant for golf, tennis and horse riding. Although if it does rain, be sure to visit Fonts Ufanes afterwards, to see the incredible water springs appear. January is the coolest month yet there are still around 5 hours of sunshine and average daily highs of 12°C - mild enough to enjoy activities or sightseeing, and if you travel into the mountains, there may be a chance to see the peaks with snow on them.

Campanet Caves
To say that the Campanet Caves are famous for their stalagmites and stalactites doesn’t do these extraordinary rock formations justice. The caves are an alien landscape carved out of million-year-old limestone, with crystal clear pools, winding passages and large chambers decorated with the most incredible, mineral-coloured rock formations. Open all year, a guided tour takes around 40 minutes. The memory will stay with you for life.
Ses Fonts Ufanes
Even rain in Campanet can be a positive. Anyone lucky enough to be here just after a downpour should witness the vauclusian springs of Ses Fonts Ufanes, the island’s first protected Natural Monument. This is an area of outstanding beauty even when a torrent of water is not suddenly shooting out of the earth.
Glass-Making
You could say glass-making is a Majorcan tradition – after all, it dates back 2,000 years. This ancient craft is still carried on at Menestralia, on the outskirts of Campanet, and visitors can watch as artisans produce objects ranging from beautifully coloured lamps and vases to ornate chandeliers.
Eating & Drinking
Campanet is a quiet village with a couple of pleasant, friendly bars where visitors can enjoy tapas and the typical Majorcan dish pan b’oli (bread rubbed with olive oil and eaten with ham, cheese or fruit), as well as excellent hotel restaurants.
Hiking, Cycling, Mountain Biking or Horse Riding
Fresh forest air, the scent of orange and almond groves, open farmland, rustic inns, a Gothic chapel, the views in the Sierra de Tramuntana and stunning cliffs along the rugged north-west coastline of Majorca are just some of the attractions that make people want to leave the hire car behind.
Golf
A little over 20 minutes away, near Alcudia, is one of the finest of the island’s excellent courses. While a pleasant drive in the opposite direction offers a choice of courses to suit all handicaps. With over 300 days sunshine and stunning scenery, north-west Majorca attracts golfers all year round.
Fiestas
In Majorca there always seems to be a celebration somewhere, either to mark a religious or historical event or just to celebrate local culture, and they offer visitors a chance to experience the island’s traditions and hospitality. The main event in Campanet is the 8-day fiesta of Sant Victorià in July. Once locals have had a chance to recover, they celebrate Sant Miquel’s Day –the town’s patron saint – at the end of September.
Beaches
Both Pto Alcudia and Pto Pollensa have family-friendly, sandy beaches and all the water sports, shops and restaurants that you would hope for in a Spanish resort. For anyone looking for seclusion there are pine-backed beaches and quiet coves to be explored.

Qawra Weather

|
Weather in Qawra – Lots of sun in the middle of the Med
Qawra is a secluded resort on the eastern side of St Paul’s Bay in the north-west of Malta. With mild winters and hot, sunny summers, Qawra is a year-round resort that attracts families, water sports enthusiasts, couples and anyone looking for blue skies and clear sea. It’s close to some of the island’s best beaches and recent landscaping makes it an extremely pleasant winter sun destination. In summer, visitors can expect an average of up to 12 hours sunshine each day, with temperatures reaching 30°C, while even in January, there should be around 5 hours sunshine and temperatures of 15°C.
Qawra Weather – Hot and dry in summer, warm in spring and autumn
High summer can get a little humid. It is very dry – parts of Africa are actually farther south – but it doesn’t get quite as hot as Cyprus and the eastern Mediterranean and there is usually a cooling breeze blowing from the north. With its long summer season, lasting from April to October, it is said that Malta only has two seasons: a hot, dry summer and a mild, but wet winter, but that is to ignore the fact that Qawra is a fertile area and flowers will be in bloom in spring. In autumn it will be dry and a little dusty, but the sea will be much warmer.
Weather in Qawra - Mild winters, warm, clear sea all year
In August, even the sea around Qawra reaches 26ºC, making it excellent for snorkelling and diving. The water is warm all year, with the average temperature not falling below 15ºC – and that is in March. In the depths of winter it’s actually a degree or so warmer. The main season for Qawra beach holidays is April to October. But the warm sea may tempt you in for a dip even outside these months. Winter is a little wet, with around 99mm of rain falling in December, but the rain tends to come in short, heavy bursts followed by more sun. The mild winter temperatures are perfect for sightseeing or enjoying some of the many activities the area has to offer.

Qawra Things To Do
|
|
Beaches & Water Sports
Qawra has its own beach and year-round water sports. Neighbouring Bugibba offers a selection of beach lidos and Malta’s largest sandy beach, Mellieha Bay, is just a short bus ride away, as are the aptly named Golden and Paradise Bays.
Diving
There’s a choice of excellent dive centres and sites, including caves, wrecks, reefs and plentiful sea life in and around Qawra. Malta offers a rewarding diving experience at any time of the year, whatever your level of experience, and its warm water is probably the clearest in the Med.
Nightlife
Qawra has the benefit of being right next door to the brasher, busier resort of Bugibba. Close enough to walk to the clubs, karaoke bars and casino, as well as some very good restaurants, but just far enough away to enjoy the peace and tranquillity.
Explore Local Area
Reminders of Malta’s past include prehistoric megaliths and ancient catacombs at nearby Salina. The Qawra Tower, overlooking St Paul’s and Salinas Bays, was built by the Knights of Malta in 1637. 12 years later they built St Agtha’s Tower, which offers views all the way to Gozo and Comino. The island’s patron saint is commemorated by the St Paul’s Shipwreck Church. Maltese hospitality pleased him so much that he’s said to have removed the venom from all the island’s snakes. So visitors can enjoy hiking, cycling or horse riding without worrying about poisonous reptiles.
Malta’s Towns
The cosmopolitan area around Sliema and St Julian’s includes Paceville, Malta’s foremost nightlife district. In contrast, Mdina is the Silent City where cars are limited on the narrow medieval streets. Be sure to visit the Mdina Experience for its audio-visual account of the city’s 3,000 year history. Nearby Rabat is known for its ancient catacombs. The island’s capital, Valletta, is a World Heritage site with an imposing Cathedral, fortresses, palaces, museums, timber-balconied houses and the spectacular Grand Harbour.
Boat Trips
These include underwater safaris on a glass-bottomed boat and the short but beautiful journey to neighbouring islands of Malta. Small, uninhabited Comino is great for watersports and relaxing, while Gozo has stunning scenery, ancient temples and impressive architecture. Valletta also offers interesting boating experiences, including tours of the Grand Harbour and day trips to Sicily.
Ghadira Nature Reserve
Well worth a visit for anyone here in winter, this salt marsh next to Mellieha Bay’s beach is home to over 200 species of birds as well as wild rabbits and chameleons.
Festas & Festivals
Festas, the religious feasts held in villages throughout the summer to celebrate the local saint, have developed into events lasting days, with processions, fireworks and a general celebration of local culture. The local area also hosts beer, wine and music festivals.
